Remembering what we’ve forgotten

For the ones who crave a slower, wilder, more seasonal life

You’re here because you’re longing for something different.

Maybe you’re tired of rushing through the days, of feeling disconnected from nature, your body, and the seasons. You might have a cupboard full of skincare that doesn’t quite feel like you, or a quiet curiosity about making things with your own two hands. Or perhaps you’ve been sensing that whisper inside you: There must be another way – slower, more beautiful, more real.

If so, you’re in the right place.

The Wildish Life was created to remind you of what you already know deep down: that life can be lived in rhythm with the earth. That your skincare can come from herbs grown in the soil. That your rituals can be as simple as stirring a pot of tea, infusing a flower into oil, or stepping outside to gaze at the full moon.

This isn’t about perfection or becoming someone new. It’s about remembering. And I’m here to walk alongside you.

Gently guiding you on your wildish journey

I know how it feels to crave that connection and not know where to start. You want:

  • To live seasonally, but without needing to overhaul your whole life
  • To make things with your hands – skincare, soap, scents – but you don’t know who to trust to show you how
  • To feel part of something bigger: the turning of the seasons, the rhythm of the year, the old ways made new again

That’s where I come in. My name is  (Sami Blackford, if you want to get all serious about it), and I’ve spent over 20 years working with plants, crafting botanical skincare, soap, and natural perfume.

For fifteen of those years, I ran my own award-winning botanical skincare brand, where I grew herbs on my North Wales allotment and turned them into potions, balms, and creams that travelled far beyond my little hillside.

I loved that work deeply. But eventually, I realised my true calling wasn’t in making products, it was in teaching others to do it for themselves. Because when you learn these skills, you gain so much more than a pot of cream or a bar of soap. You gain connection. You gain confidence. You gain a new way of living.

Stepping into the Wildish Life

So now, through The Wildish Life, I share my knowledge in a way that is both practical and a little bit magical. I teach workshops in:

  • Botanical skincare formulation — from herbal oils and balms to creams and scrubs.
  • Traditional cold-process soap-making — a craft that is as old as it is satisfying.
  • Natural perfumery — blending plant essences into scents that feel alive, personal, and soulful.

Alongside the workshops, I write, share, and teach about seasonal living: books I’m reading, plants I’m growing, astrology musings, hikes in the hills, even my craft projects. Because the Wildish Life isn’t just about skincare, it’s about living closer to the cycles of nature, with creativity and simplicity at the heart.

When you step into this world, you’re not a student in a classroom. You’re an adventurer on your own path. I simply offer the map, the compass, and a lantern for the journey.

What it feels like to work with me

Imagine this: you’re sitting at your kitchen table, stirring a jar of golden oil you’ve infused with calendula flowers you picked yourself. There’s a batch of soap curing on your shelf, scented with lavender and rosemary. You look at these simple, beautiful things and feel that spark of pride: I made this.

That’s the feeling I want for you – the sense of agency, connection, and joy that comes from making with your own hands.

My story, your mirror

When I first began, I was just like you – curious, but unsure. I made plenty of mistakes (there was a spectacularly messy face mask experiment once involving far too much turmeric for my complexion). But with time, practice, and patience, I wove my way into a life that feels wild…ish.

I’m not looking to inhabit a cave and live off the land. We live in the modern world we’ve created – and let’s be honest, a lot of it is really useful… but I also recognised my need for something else along side that… something simple, seasonal, and deeply satisfying.

And that’s what I want for you. Not to follow my path exactly, but to find your own way to wildish.

My invitation to you

If you’re ready to slow down… to stir a pot of herbs… to make something with your hands… and to reconnect with the old rhythms of life… I’d love to walk alongside you.

Welcome to The Wildish Life. I’m so happy you’re here.
